During the evening of 8th May, 1915, the 13th London Battalion of 25 Brigade, 8th Division, went forward to their assembly positions in preparation for their part in the Battle of Aubers Ridge the following day. This movement was accompanied by a great deal of shell fire as the enemy were aware of what was going on and it is likely that it was this that caused the death of Arthur Eddington. |
